    Job Description

    Provide academic and career advising services to undergraduate students in the Mechanical Engineering Department as well as prospective students enrolled in General Engineering and other majors on campus. Develop and coordinate the academic advising programs and services for Mechanical Engineering. Enrollment activities include advising, registration and scheduling, graduation clearance, orientation, and recruitment. Represent the Mechanical Engineering Department and its programs to the internal/external university community, public sector, industry, and alumni. Administrative duties may also include support for other departmental activities.

    After successfully demonstrating the required skills, reliability, and consistent performance, there will be consideration for telework options.

    Required Qualifications

    Master's degree from an accredited institution or a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent level of training or experience; previous experience in academic or career advising or engineering work experience; strong computer skills such as electronic file management, word processing, and spreadsheets; experience with software such as MS Office; must be detail oriented, with evidence of strong organizational and problem solving skills; must be self-motivated as well as flexible and creative in finding solutions for problems; must enjoy working with students and have a professional manner of communication; must be able to communicate and work effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and prospective students and their families.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Knowledge of university policies and procedures related to registration, class scheduling, degree and graduation requirements; knowledge of Career Service practices including recruiting and placement practices; knowledge of student support services within higher education; advanced computer skills, particularly related to data management software; experience with the Banner Student system; experience with Microsoft Access and Navigate.
