    Job Description

    Coordinate preparation for the general microbiology lab classes, and assist as needed with the advanced microbiology labs. Organize the setup and breakdown of laboratory exercises and the preparation of media, solutions, and regents used in classes and the microbiology prep room. Direct and train prep room personnel in proper laboratory techniques and safety procedures. Assist Microbiology Laboratories Coordinator with general equipment maintenance and assist GTAs as necessary in teaching laboratories.

    Required Qualifications

    Thorough knowledge of microbiological laboratory principles and experience with the laboratory procedures, safety guidelines, and common laboratory equipment. Experience with preparation of microbiological media, solutions, and reagents used in teaching laboratories. Ability to supervise and provide direction to graduate and undergraduate students. Ability to work both independently and as a team. Effective communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bachelors of Science degree in microbiology or related field, or equivalent experience in a laboratory setting. Supervisory experience with graduate or undergraduate students. Working knowledge of common computer programs and software.
