    Job Description

The Department of Business Information Technology (BIT) in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2027. The BIT major includes three degree options: Decision Support Systems (DSS), Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSM), and Cybersecurity Management and Analytics (CMA). Candidates should have an appropriate academic background and expertise to teach courses and pursue research in one or more of these degree options. Candidates whose research agenda extends or intersects with the department's core strengths, such as data analytics and decision science, supply chain resilience and optimization, or cybersecurity risk and governance, are especially encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will also bring a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring, and will be expected to contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

Virginia Tech is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. Women, underrepresented minorities, individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. The Pamplin College of Business is committed to strengthening its position as a research-active college by recruiting faculty whose scholarship advances the leading edge of business analytics, supply chain management, and cybersecurity. We invest in research infrastructure, seed funding for emerging scholars, and collaborative ties with industry and government partners in the region's growing technology corridor. Over the past decade, the college has expanded its doctoral and research programs, and we continue to prioritize hires whose work can generate high-impact publications, attract external funding, and shape the direction of these fields as they evolve. Alongside this research mission, Pamplin sustains a strong tradition of undergraduate and graduate instruction and provides meaningful support for teaching development, curriculum innovation, and student mentorship.
