I started working at Virginia Tech during my undergrad years. I knew I wanted to work within an HR role. I was fortunate enough to secure a part-time position as an HR Assistant on campus. I have been strategic in every position I have applied to and accepted at the University ensuring that the moves I make are going to help my career growth, but also placing myself within a culture that I can thrive in. I have worked with several departments in my nearly 17 years on campus and I can truly say I have enjoyed every position and the colleagues I have worked with.

I am an HR Manager with the College of Science. Our College has 10 departments/centers within the University. I work closely with college leadership and our HR Representatives by providing HR support across HR transactions, and operational and strategic functions. I help ensure compliance, drive talent acquisition, and develop and foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture.

My favorite part of HR is the recruiting process. I love meeting new people and talking about how great of a workplace the College of Science, and the rest of the University is.

There are so many opportunities on the campus for growth and development. Through networking with like positions and sharing experiences, to registering for training, there is always something to learn to help with your career. Take advantage of it.
