My schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, working Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and I really enjoy that arrangement. In Dining Services, we do not operate on a traditional 9-to-5 schedule. In fact, some positions begin as early as 3:00 a.m. This flexibility allows me to support and onboard employees who work a variety of shifts, including evenings and overnight schedules.

My personal circumstances also allow me to be flexible when needed, and I have worked extended hours, such as 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., to meet operational needs.

Additionally, I was given the opportunity to work remotely; however, I prefer working on-site. I enjoy being in the office, interacting with colleagues, and building relationships with employees, which is especially important in my onboarding and support role.

Flexibility is one of the aspects of my job that I value most. I am fortunate to have the ability to adjust both where and when I work to meet the demands of my role. This flexibility also helps me balance professional responsibilities with personal commitments when they occasionally overlap. I am especially grateful to be part of such a supportive team—my colleagues are always willing to step in and help when needed, creating an environment where we genuinely look out for one another. While I appreciate the option to work remotely, I also highly value my time in the office because it provides meaningful opportunities to connect with both my coworkers and the students we serve.
